My bestie put in a request for a case to house the Kindle she received for Christmas. After some deliberation (deciding on a case for your Kindle is serious business!), we finally settled on this tutorial from The Sometimes Crafter. Remeber this post? Here's what I turned those little squares into:
Ed's Kindle kindly agreed to model it for me. All fabric and supplies are from my stash, including the pink velcro. Why I happen to have pink velcro, I will never know. In the interest of using what I had on hand, I substituted a piece of old mattress pad for the batting. I think it turned out a bit on the wonky side as compared to Christina's, because I have never really done much quilting (unless you count the mug mat I made at 4-H camp in the 5th grade). If I make another, I will try to match up all of the squares a little better and place the stitching closer to the seams. Or, I will just make a non-patchwork version :-)
Once you get the squares all sewn together, it really is very easy to get through the rest. I like how it turned out, wonky-ness and all. I hope my bestie likes it, too!
oh em geeeee, it's so cute! Can't wait to stash my Kindle in it!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I need to update my tutorial to fit the new, smaller kindles. My friend has one and I think I need to make another of these for her. :)
